Spencer Brunson is from Starkville, Mississippi. He grew up in his father, Marty’s, footsteps. From an early age he was exposed to the outdoor lifestyle where he developed a passion for the outdoors. In 2001, at age 11, Spencer was a volunteer assisting with the first ever Catch-A-Dream hunt. Ever since, he has remained close to Catch-A-Dream, watching the Foundation expand and grow.
Spencer graduated from Starkville Academy in 2007 and signed a baseball scholarship with Delta State University. The Lord altered his path two years later, when he transferred to Mississippi Delta Community College and then to Marty’s Alma Mater, Mississippi College. Following a standout career on the baseball diamond, Spencer graduated with a B.S. in Psychology (2012) and now holds a Graduate Certificate in Homeland Security from Mississippi College (2015). While working through school, he worked as an afterschool teacher at the YMCA in Clinton, MS until August 2014. With a passion for serving young people, Spencer left the YMCA and joined the staff at the Child Development Center of Morrison Heights Baptist Church. In December 2014, he was named the Afterschool Director where he served until accepting the position of Project Manager with Catch-A Dream in August 2015. In July 2022, Spencer took on a new role as the Director of Programs and Operations in which he oversees those day-to-day processes for Catch-A-Dream.
Spencer is an avid outdoorsman, and spends much of his time hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. His wife, Erin, a native of Greenville, MS, works as a Physical Therapist Assistant. They reside in Ackerman, MS, along with their sons, James and Jude, and Great Dane named Axel.
