Tim Wilkinson, Volunteer of the Year.

The 2012 recipient is Tim Wilkinson of Bay Minette, AL.  Tim is a native of Mobile, AL and has spent his life as a skilled craftsman working in various capacities.  He spent many years as a self-employed cabinet maker, and is also skilled at other carpentry tasks, as well as auto body repair.  He worked for the past two decades for Grady Buick in Mobile, then assumed duties for property management and maintenance at Grady farms near Mobile where he remains employed.

His passion for community service is obvious, and exceeded only by his passion to serve The Lord.  Tim has served in various capacities in his local church, but has a strong devotion to children.  This interest led to the development of a bus ministry to which he devoted many years.  This same passion led Tim into involvement with Catch-A-Dream, first as a program supporter and benefactor, but more recently as an active volunteer.

Tim received this beautiful Canada Goose decoy award at the Mississippi Conservation Achievement Awards banquet held in Jackson, MS on February 16.

When Catch-A-Dream acquired its current permanent home in late 2012, Tim stepped forward to volunteer his expertise in assessing the physical structure and developing a renovation plan for what would become the office building.  Most critically, however, Tim devoted an entire week to personally leading the renovation and re-design of an 8-bedroom bunkhouse into the current CADF office facility.  His tireless and relentless dedication of over 80 hours of physical labor during the initial week of the renovation project positioned us to finish the project and to occupy the new facility without the need to hire a contractor.  Not only was the work done in a highly competent and complete fashion, but Tim saved the Foundation tens of thousands of dollars.

Despite his very busy work schedule, Tim lends not only time and physical energy, but also perspective and wise counsel as we continually seek ways to improve the program.  Like many other volunteers, Tim stands ready to defend and support the premise upon which Catch-A-Dream was founded and the principles on which it operates daily.  We proudly present the ninth annual Catch-A-Dream Foundation Volunteer of the Year Award to Tim Wilkinson.
